How Does PILOT Work?

1. An approved sending organization with a dog in need of transfer calls, emails or completes a web form with basic information about the dog.
2. Receiving organizations are notified immediately - via email - that there is a dog in need.
3. Once a receiving organization agrees to accept the animal, a behavioral observation, transport (and vet services, if applicable) will be arranged by PILOT volunteers.
4. The receiving organization places the animal for adoption.
5. When the animal is placed in its forever home by the receiving organization, the adoptive family is informed that the dog is a part of PILOT.  Receiving organizations keep PILOT abreast of how the dog is doing.
